Welcome to Dalvey House
The MacLeod family have made Dalvey House their Highland home since it was built in Forres in 1798.
Situated between the Cairngorms and the Moray sunshine coast, this beautiful Georgian home nestles in woodlands close to Speyside - the heart of Scotland’s malt whisky heritage.
A much-loved family home, it is an ideal place for your family to gather, too. Tucked away in woodland, private and secluded, it offers the chance to completely unwind. Whether celebrating a special event or simply pulling everyone together for some quality time away, we will ensure everyone feels comfortable and cared-for.
The House and Garden
Georgian splendour combines with modern comforts to make your stay at Dalvey House luxurious and rewarding.
The oak-panelled and gloriously light-filled front hall welcomes you to the house. The lavish drawing room, the heart of the home, is furnished for family comfort and relaxation. The dining room, with its ornate furniture and finishings, brings guests together to eat, talk and share.
Our bedrooms are well-appointed, spacious and offer flexible accommodation. For those with children, there are en-suite rooms that can be adjoined, if required. Kingsize doubles can be made into generous twin rooms. Whatever your needs, we can accommodate them.
Weddings and Events
At Dalvey, we delight in creating the most sumptuous setting for weddings, large or small.
Set within 17 acres of well-maintained lawns and gardens for your guests to stroll around, we can cater for groups of up to 58 guests in the house or more in our superb estate grounds. For a larger event, you can hire the house for select guests while entertaining further guests in our function room or a large marquee in the grounds.
We can be entirely flexible to make your wedding dreams a reality. For a more intimate gathering, the house, with its lavish 18th century dining and drawing rooms, offers all the comforts of a private Highland estate home. It is perfect for a celebration!
Things to See and Do
Situated between the Cairngorm National Park and the Moray Sunshine Coast, and right next door to Speyside, there are plenty of things to do while you’re here.
For the adventurous, Munros await. For the sea lover, beautiful sandy beaches and marine life galore awaits. For those with a taste for fine malt whisky, Speyside and its rich whisky heritage awaits.
The Malt Whisky Trail starts a stone’s throw away and some of Scotland’s finest seafood is served in restaurants nearby. However you like to while away your day, there are mountains of things for you to do and discover during your stay at Dalvey House.
The Cottages
We have four beautiful holiday cottages dotted around the estate.
East Lodge, the original lodge for Dalvey House, sits in an acre of garden that is perfect for families with space for a hot tub, alfresco dining and outdoor play. Ploughman’s Cottage has incredible, far-reaching views across farmland and is a perfect retreat from busy life. Mill Cottage sits amongst the barley fields in a secluded location and has amazing sunsets all year round.
Abbott’s Hill is a restored traditional Scottish farmhouse with a delightful garden. All our cottages have either open fires or log burners for extra cosiness in the winter months. Guests may stroll around the grounds or stray further afield. Wherever you choose to go, a delightfully comfortable cottage will be waiting for your return.
